Frequently Asked Questions
How do I communicate with my captain before the trip?
Once your booking is confirmed, you'll receive the captain's direct phone number and email address. We encourage you to reach out a few days before your trip to discuss weather, meeting locations, and specific targets.
Are the captains licensed and insured?
Yes. Every captain on CaptainDirect must go through a verification process where we check their local guide licenses, coast guard credentials (where applicable), and commercial vessel insurance.
What is the cancellation policy?
Cancel 48+ hours out and the $150 deposit is refunded if the boat cannot run (weather or captain cancel). A guest no-show forfeits the deposit. Balance is never charged through this site.
Why are prices cheaper here than on other booking sites?
Pat's own boat is a $150 hold. The Valley desk is $50 half day or $100 full day. Deposits go on Big Coast Square. Balance is paid to the assigned captain on the day. Pat takes desk trips first when he's free; other listed boats only when he's already booked. Other sites take 15–20% of the whole trip; here a listed captain owes Pat that $50/$100 only if the trip runs.
