Denman Island

Baynes Sound and Lambert Channel are where the magic happens. The tidal currents between Denman and Vancouver Island concentrate baitfish, and the Chinook follow. Year-round Springs run through here — peak season is May through September when fish regularly exceed 20 lbs, with Tyee potential. Winter Springs average 6-14 lbs, a quiet-season treat when the crowds are gone. Lingcod season opens in May and the rocky reefs around Chrome Island and Norris Rocks produce aggressive fish over 30 lbs. The waters here also support humpback whales, Bigg's orcas, sea lions, and 80+ bird species — you'll see wildlife on every trip.
